Firefighters respond to explosion
A fuel truck is believed to have been the possible cause of an explosion Friday afternoon at Cooperative Plus just west of Whitewater.
The blast in the town of Lima reportedly ignited several buildings at the coop, located at 12743 W. State Highway 59. The Whitewater Fire Department and the Rock County Sheriff's Office responded to the 3:11 p.m. blast at the fuel supplier. They were the lead fire and law enforcement agencies. Whitewater firefighters called for mutual aid from area departments, including those from Fort Atkinson, Milton, Edgerton, Clinton, the town of Turtle, the town of Beloit, Darien, Janesville and others. State Highway 59 was closed in both directions between County Line Road and County Highway KK.
